RAPID PROTOTYPE FIRM TAKES DELIVERY ON ELEVENTH NTC LASER CUTTING SYSTEM 02.27.04 The Laser Group of NTC America Corporation (Farmington Hills, MI) has announced the recent order for one of its TLM 610 5-axis laser processing systems to 3-Dimensional Services, Rochester Hills, MI. 3-Dimensional Services is a specialist in the design, engineering and build of rapid prototype parts. The order is the 11th NTC laser system purchased and in use by the company since its founding in 1992. Among the NTC lasers in use at the 3-Dimensional Services facility and at its sister company, Urgent Design & Manufacturing, are eight TLM 610 models featuring 5-axis motion and control, two TLV 510 models, both featuring 3-axis motion while one is equipped with a dual pallet changer, and a single TLN 510 3-axis laser that also includes pallet changing capabilities. The companies use the lasers to cut sheet metal and plate, as well as 3 dimensional cutting, typically within +0.001" tolerances, to meet the various design and quality requirements from a variety of customers in a wide range of industries. The NTC lasers offer a level of operational flexibility and ease of use (i.e., programming and operation) to meet the manufacturing needs of the frequent changeovers and low volume runs in the rapid prototype environment. The TLN and TLV series of 3-axis, 2-dimesional laser systems both feature high speed and high accuracy as their hallmarks. The TLN series is a cantilever-style design with wide-open accessibility for easy loading and unloading, while the TLV models are of a bridge configuration. Both series utilize dependable fast axial flow, DC excitation lasers for dependability and consistent power output. The TLM series of lasers are bridge style processing centers that feature full 5-axis motion, providing accurate cutting in three dimensions. These systems are ideal for cutting and trimming components that have already been formed into various shapes, from simple to complex forms.
